Community STEM Cafes

Community STEM Cafes are fun events for the whole family designed to excite and inspire youth in STEM, to help parents support their child’s development, and to build relationships recognizing and celebrating STEM in our communities.

These low-cost collaborative events are powered by local STEM professionals, educators, clubs, teams, and community organizations to bring free, accessible quality STEM activities to communities.

Registration is limited at these events to promote quality interactions and experiences. There are 4 sections of activities designed to support 3 stages of youth development and parents:

  • Elementary Discovery – provides loosely structured activities that can last about 15-20 minutes each with about 6-8 rotations through different activities.
  • Middle School Career Exploration – provides more structured hands-on activities lasting about 20-30 minutes with about 4-6 rotations through different activities.
  • High School College and Career Conversations – provides interactions with STEM professionals in small groups of 3-4 students per professional lasting about 15-20 minutes each with about 6-8 rotations to meet professionals in different careers.
  • Parent Tips – highlights why and how to assist children and youth with their interests and development followed by a Q&A session to address specifics. This section lasts as long as parents have questions.
